Okay, I have read it...

First of all, Christian is fifty shades of effed up. And I am not talking about his sexual proclivities.

Anastasia? She is fifty shades of effed up too. And I am not talking about her sexual proclivities.

That is why they are the perfect couple.

The author spends a lot of time mirroring Twilight, with Christian's demand she eat and breathe which gets on my nerves after a while. And then there are the expensive gifts. I have to come down on the side of Anastasia, the gifts scream 'bought and paid for'.

Having said all that, would I recommend this book? Not really. If what you want is to read about sex, I have written about nearly everything I read in the date night stories. With a few exceptions, I have written about passive aggressive, sometimes more aggressive than passive sex. All you have to do is pull the fangs and give the men a pulse.

The only thing I think is interested is how Christian is convoluted about how he feels for Anastasia and how often he breaks his own personal rules to be with her the way he wants to be with her. I know we will eventually get down to what his deal is, his past traumas to make control his watch word and his relationship with the mysterious Mrs. Robinson, his mistress in his formative years.

But I can predict how the series will end, it will end with her signing the contract they have managed to go through the entire first book discussing and never signing, and he tearing it up because she has finally let go of all his defenses and that is what the contract is, an artificial wall he uses between him and his feelings ( not the woman in question) so he will have an excuse not to care about them anymore. See all that Psych 101 in kicking in.....

So, if you want to read this book, give me a yell, I can arrange it for you Wink

Fifty Shades Darker

I have done some weird stuff in my day but I have never read a nasty book with another person...It was a real experience.....

Okay, lets get down to it.

I loved the emails between Christian and Ana, they were so sarcastic and silly and but they look like the type of thing two people would do in a new and budding relationship.

I personally hate the FB style updates of Ana's inner goddess...I was all for Christian's inner demons getting a hold of her.....and well....

We find out more about our Christian and though he still tops my list of effed up men, he was still a character I could get behind. He is still a lot like Edward and something like Eric in their overprotective, you don't ever have to do anything because I am richer than God sort of guys who want to keep their woman in their sights. I sort of get Ana's reluctance in this instance, after all, Christian's motives are murky with his sexual inclinations concerning control, but you can tell he cares about her in a strange sort of convoluted effed up way.

But in the second book, we also meet Christian's adopted family and you get to see him in a real struggle to be something else than he has always been. He is the true "Vampire or Victim" personality who seeks to control his own life and the life of others to the Nth degree while still dreaming of the nightmare of his childhood and adolescence. There were times in the book I said..."Oh eff no!!!!" when those barriers came tumbling down and left Christian defenseless and almost like a child beaten into submission.

We learn more about Mrs. Robinson, the woman who taught him how to be a sexual and emotional cripple, and we learn more about his family, who adores him and we see how ruthless his enemies may be.

Let me know if you want to read this book.... Wink

50 Shades of Grey Empty Fifty Shades Freed

This is the last book of the series and to tell you the truth, it was a little too Vanilla for me.

Christian and Ana are still fighting his enemies, who have a personal connection to him and he is still struggling with his earlier teachings of love and sex as he tries to build a relationship with Ana that incorporates love and dominance without pain and cheating one's self of intimacy.

Ana does a lot to help her troubled boy/man to come out of his shell, and then she lays a bomb shell on him that changes the whole dynamic of the relationship and she goes out on a limb for his family and we learn about some things in his past and he opens himself to the possibility that his sexuality is not all he is and he can have emotional ties with people and sometimes, it takes the possibility of losing everything to wake you the eff up

True. I know alot of libraries carry Playboy ect so they could always do them the same way. Of course if its a high school library ect, then thats a different story of course.

I have to confess that I did go on line to listen the classical music she mentions in the book and they are really beautiful...not sure I would have sex to any of them, but they were very lovely....

I find it curious that he hasn't read the books yet. I figure either he is very busy and just doesn't have the time, or he isn't interested. See now, if it were me, I'd read at least one of the books to see what all the fuss was about. I do rather fear tho that he may not really be interested in the part. If he was, he would at least have read the books since the script hasn't even been written yet.

See, this is what I think, he made that little off hand remark about how he had his own dungeon and all that and the press and the fans have made this a topic for him to be asked about. He doesn't say he has been asked by anyone looking to do a film...Probably Christian will be played by one of those little rat faced pretty boys....

I think I have to agree with Kim, the 50 books are okay, but she is so focused on having them feck about, you don't get the really interesting story about him and why he is the way he is and what his modus operendi is.
