Alice in Wonderland Empty Alice in Wonderland

What can I say about this movie? This was a fantastic psychedelic romp through the childhood tale. Alice is a young child who believes in six impossible things before breakfast. She may know in her mind that there is no Wonderland, but in her heart, she knows it is simply a quick trip down the rabbit hole.

Tim Burton adds a wonderful sense of the gothic and creates wonderland as we were meant to always see it, bright and colorful and little dark and scary with strange creatures who seem to make absolute and no sense all at the same time. Though his screen time is relatively short, Johnny Depp adds another strange character to his repertoire of strange characters in the Hatter and plays it both mad and sad. Helena Bonham Carter does a great job as the Queen of Hearts, her bulbous head mirroring old Victorian playing cards of the time.

The Cheshire cat and the caterpillar and his hookah pipe are classical in appearance.

Go and see this film on the big screen. It is worth looking silly wearing the three d glasses in the theatre.
