So here is the gist of Kristen Bauer Van Straten's Celebrity Ghost Story

She grew up in Wisconsin on a farm. Her dad was a gun and hunting enthusiast and he would take her skeet shooting and target shooting and he was a huge John Wayne fan. They would watch all these old westerns together and he would point out the guns they were using and whether or not they were the right gun for the time period and all that.

Kristen was very close to her dad and she always made sure she was in contact with him, even when she moved to LA to start her acting career. She was working on a series and she got a call that her dad had been diagnosed with melanoma. They decided to have his treatment in California so one week a month of two years, they went to California and stayed with Kristen while he was being treated. But one day, Kristen got a call that her dad had passed out and the cancer had gone to his brain and he was not expected to live.

Well, her dad died, and Kristen was devastated. She felt kind of lost and she really missed her dad. One day, she went for a drive and she ended up in this neighborhood and she saw this house for sale and she just stopped on a whim and she walked in and she was looking around, and the house keeper told her that the house was not really open, that she should come back for the open house. She was heading out the door when she heard this gruff voice say, "Hey there little lady, come back here," and she turned and she got this shock because there, coming down down the stairs was John Wayne....or so she thought. Actually it was Michael Wayne and he was selling his dad's house. He told her to come back and they went through the house.

Hanging on a wall was a rifle and Kristen knew it immediately. It was a rifle that John Wayne used in The Searchers. She talked about the gun and how often she had seen it and how she and her dad really loved John Wayne's movies and all that and by the time they finished the tour, Michael Wayne told her, "This house is your house." Kristen said she was sort of surprised..."Did I just buy a house?" and Michael Wayne said..."You sure did."

So three weeks later, she was moved into the house. She said she really loved the house and she liked the idea it was John Wayne's house but she developed insomnia. So she would take these long baths and she would talk out loud to her dad and she told him about the house and how much she missed him and all that. She also said that one evening when she was cleaning up from doing some gardening, she saw a man wandering around in the house. She said the man had a body type that reminded her of her dad and she went in and there was no one there. She confided in a friend that she was having this trouble and she was lonely for her dad and her friend suggested she go and see a lady who was a psychic.

So she goes. And she tells the lady up front that her dad had died. And she told Kristen that her dad really liked her new house, and he liked the fact that she had the rifle over her mantle piece, and she was shocked, because she didn't tell the psychic about that. And then she said, "He likes that you talk to him and he likes being in the house with her and he loved her. And that was another detail she hadn't told the psychic. But, she said that after that, she she felt as though she was still connected to her dad and that he was still there, being her comfort.
